The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday submitted a report on the recent police action at Nandigram to the Calcutta high court.
CBI counsel Ranjan Ray handed over the report in a sealed cover to a division bench comprising Chief Justice S S Nizzer and Justice P C Ghosh.
Fourteen people were killed in police firing at Nandigram on March 14 and the high court had asked CBI to probe into it.
The West Bengal government, represented by Advocate General Balai Roy, prayed for more time to file its affidavit on the matter as it had been directed by the court on Thursday last.
The bench allowed the state to file the affidavit on Monday, when the matter would be heard again.
The high court had asked the CBI to move in to Nandigram at the earliest and directed it to complete its enquiry and place a report before the court at the earliest.
An NGO, Empathy-05, also moved a PIL before the court claiming that the Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee members had driven many people owing allegiance to CPI-M out of Nandigram and adjoining areas since January.
The matter, seeking justice for those allegedly driven out people, would also be heard along with the main matter on Monday.
