Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said he and his family members could be put behind the bars if his Samajwadi Party failed to regain power in the assembly elections in the state.

"Some political parties are conspiring to send me and my family members to jail and they will succeed in their designs in case Samajwadi Party failed to win the elections," Yadav said while addressing election meeting in Kayamganj and Kannauj in Farrukhabad district.

Alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress have joined hands against him, Yadav said that as a change of tactic, they have decided to work together to defeat Samajwadi Party nominees.

Yadav also charged BSP president Mayawati with selling party tickets to candidates for huge sums.

On reports of farmers committing suicide in the state, Yadav said no farmer had committed suicide in the state whereas in Congess-ruled states, 4700 farmers have ended their lives due to poverty.

"Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have been provided remunerative prices for their produce," Yadav said, adding that the government had looked after them well.

Yadav assured SP rebels of government posts and asked them to help the party at this crucial juncture.
