Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef is believed to have been moved from the Brisbane watch house to a nearby remand centre on Thursday morning.

Just after 9.30 am (local time), an armoured police van left the Brisbane City watch house with a prisoner inside.

Although the man was hunched over, hiding his face between his knees, he bore a striking resemblance to the 27-year-old Indian national who appeared in court on Monday charged with recklessly supporting a terrorist group, according to Sydney Morning Herald.

Dressed in the same clothes Haneef was wearing at court, the man was also barefoot, as Haneef had also been on Monday.

Haneef's lawyer Peter Russo confirmed his client was on a list to be moved to the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre on Wednesday morning, since his defence team had not yet posted his $10,000 bail surety.

Haneef will remain in police custody until his lawyers post his bond, at which time he will be moved to Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.

At 10 am (local time) Russo is expected to file an appeal to Haneef's visa cancellation in the federal court.
