The Jan Morcha on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the madarsa rape case and social security to the two teenaged victims even as Uttar Pradesh Family Welfare Minister Ahmad Hasan accused Bahujan Samaj Party of politicising the issue.

"The local police is incapable of carrying out an impartial investigation into the case, which involves those enjoying patronage of the ruling Samajwadi Party. A CBI inquiry is, therefore, indispensable," Morcha convenor Raj Babbar said in Allahabad.

He said social security should be provided to the girls, whom he met earlier in the day, and if the state government failed the Morcha would launch an agitation by the end of this month.

Babbar, who was expelled from the Samajwadi Party last year, also lambasted Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for publishing advertisements that the state had a lower crime rate than many other states.

"Does a higher crime rate in other states justify what is happening in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya earlier alleged in the Assembly that an SP MP from Allahabad was involved in the incident and demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.

SP leader and Family Welfare Minister Hasan, however, accused the BSP of blowing the incident out of proportion to get 'political mileage'.

"It was in Mayawati's regime when the madarsa was shifted in that faraway place in Kareli on the outskirts of Allahabad," he told reporters in Lucknow.

Hasan claimed it was after a police investigation that the case of eve-teasing was converted in a rape case and four persons were arrested.
