Three army soldiers and a civilian were among four people killed in a militant ambush at Aragam near Tral town in south Kashmir's Pulwama district late on Thursday night.

Police said two army soldiers of 42 Rashtriya Rifles who were injured in the militant attack were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

"Militants attacked a patrol party of 42 RR at Aragam late on Thursday night. A junior commissioned officer and two soldiers were killed on the spot. One civilian identified as Mohammad Afzal Kumar also died in the crossfire. Two army soldiers who were injured were taken to hospital," a senior police officer said.

Reinforcements were rushed to the spot immediately, and the area was surrounded and searched.
