Police teams from Hyderabad and Mumbai are in Lucknow to interrogate the two HUJI militants, arrested in Barabanki in connection with serial blasts in the civil courts in Uttar Pradesh, for their possible involvement in the Mecca Masjid blasts in Andhra Pradesh.

Police teams from Gujarat and Rajasthan are also arriving here to interrogate the two militants arrested by the police last week, Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal said.

He said the teams of the four states would try to elicit information about the HUJI network in their states and their modus operandi.

The Hyderabad team, led by inspector rank officials Srinivasan Reddy and Ganga Dhar, is in the city to interrogate the militants arrested last week as the timers used in the blast at the mosque and the court premises were similar in nature, Home department sources said.

The two HUJI militants, Mohammad Tariq and Khalid Mujaheed, were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police from near Barabanki railway station on Saturday in connection with the November 23 serial blasts in the civil courts in the state.

Table clocks were used to trigger the blasts. The two other accused in the serial blasts case, Sajjad and Tariq Kashmiri were later arrested in Jammu and Kashmir. Tariq and Khalid are now in police remand.
