The Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee on Tuesday said that it would appeal in the Supreme Court against a high court ruling setting aside the Punjab notifications declaring SGPC-run Sikh institutions as minority institutions.
"We are consulting our lawyers and will go for appeal (against the Punjab and Haryana High court ruling) in the Supreme Court," SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said.
He said it was not just students from Punjab, but all across India, who come for admissions in the SGPC-run institutions.
On Monday, the court had set aside the Punjab notifications declaring SGPC-run Sikh institutions as minority institutions, permitting them to reserve 50 per cent seats for members of the Sikh community.
"We are procuring the copy of the court order to get full details," Makkar said.
