Former prime minister of the National Democratic Alliance Atal Bihari Vajpayee will not be in a position to address public meetings in the forthcoming Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.
This was disclosed by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, one of the vice presidents who has been asked to look after the logistical support for the party leaders who would be addressing public meetings.
"Keeping in mind the advice of the doctors and his own medical condition, Atalji has decided not to campaign," he said.
He claimed that the party was doing well in Gujarat and Chief Minister Narendra Modi would return to power with a bigger majority.
But he failed to explain as to where the party was getting more seats than what it had five years ago.
The campaign in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will be led by Lal Kishenchand Advani who will kick off the campaign for the second round with public meetings in Pattan and Mehsana and on December 5 in Kullu."
Over 40 national leaders and 30 state leaders, including Modi himself would be addressing over 250 rallies in Gujarat.
Sushma Swaraj will look after Godhra, Nadiad and Ahmedabad during the campaign trail.
She will expose corruption and misgovernance of the Congress government in Nurpur in Himachal Pradesh.
Actress Hema Malini, cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu and Shatrugan Sinha will add to the attraction of the party.
