The Uttar Pradesh government has lifted the ban on Madhuri Dixit's comeback movie Aaja Nachle after the film's makers Yash Raj Films apologised for the allegedly degeratoary comment in the title track and deleited it from the song.
The state government had banned the film after a line from the title track - Bazaar Mein Machi Hai Maar, Bole Mochi Bhi Khud Ko Sunar - reportedly offended some Dalit organisations.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati even wanted the ban to be extended across the country and shot off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.
Following UP's example, Punjab also banned the movie on Saturday.
The ban was lifted after makers of Aaja Nachle deleted the offensive line from the song.
"We did not set out to make a film,which would offend any sensibility. It is not out intention to hurt any section of the society. We made the film in good spirit and faith. And if for some reason it offended the sensibilities of some people, then the decision we have taken is we will delete the line straightway," the film's director Anil Mehta said.
