Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur on Tuesday hosted a private dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, reflecting the importance accorded to the visiting dignitary.
Hosting of the private dinner is a special gesture for Abe in the backdrop of Dr Singh's keen desire to take the Indo-Japan relations to higher levels.
Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, DMK MP Kanimozhi and NCP MP Supriya Sule were among the few guests at the dinner.
Interestingly, all the three next generation leadersĀ are children of the country's political stalwarts.
While Rahul is the son of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Kanimozhi is the daughter of DMK chief M Karunanidhi and Supriya is the daughter of NCP President Sharad Pawar.
