Exit polls after the fourth round of polls in Uttar Pradesh on Monday showed the Bahujan Samaj Party continuing to be the single largest party followed by the Samajwadi Party with the Bharatiya Janata Party being relegated to the third spot.
A highlight of the NDTV exit poll conducted after the fourth phase is that the ruling Samajwadi Party is projected to bag the largest share of 25-29 seats out of the 57 that went to polls in the fourth phase, thereby indicating that rebel leader Beni Prasad Verma has made little dents in its fortunes.
The exit poll predicts the BSP getting 13-17 seats, the BJP 10-14 and the Congress emerging victorious on 1-5 seats.
According to the exit poll, if present voting patterns continue, the BSP could emerge as the single largest party with 131-141 seats against 98 in 2002 elections, followed by the Samajwadi Party with 109-119 seats (145 in 2002).
The poll shows the BJP getting 91-101 seat (107 in 2002) and the Congress winning on 33-43 seats against 25 in the previous elections.
A STAR TV exit polls shows the BSP getting 22 seats in the fourth phase followed by SP (20), BJP (11), Congress (3) and others (1).
The STAR TV projections for the entire Assembly based on current voting trends show BSP getting 146 seats, followed by BJP (99), SP (91), Congress (28) and others (39).
The India TV-C Voter exit polls shows Samajwadi Party getting 23-27 seats in the fourth phase followed by BSP (14-18), BJP (9-13), Congress (2-5) and Others (3-6).
