Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, accused the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh of 'bungling up' the funds he struggled to procure for development of his Lok Sabha constituency, Amethi.

Launching the sixth leg of the roadshow from his constituency, Rahul said, "It is very tough to ensure that the funds I procure from Centre reaches my constitutiency. Most of it gets bungled up in Lucknow."

"With Congress MLAs chosen from Amethi, it would be much easier for the Manmohan Singh-led government to ensure development in this area," Rahul said while campaigning in favour of the local party candidate Amitabh Singh.

The region will go to the polls on April 28 in the fifth phase of the Assembly elections.

The young MP said the purpose of his campaign in Uttar Pradesh was two-fold: to ensure a change in the state and to facilitate full-fledged development of Amethi.

Rahul started his roadshow on Sunday evening after garlanding his late father Rajiv Gandhi's statue and proceeded to Devi Patan temple and performed a pooja before holding a public meeting at the city centre.

On Monday, Rahul is slated to hold a roadshow in Lucknow while his mother, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is to address a public rally in the nearby Sultanpur constituency.
