Loganathan is survived by his wife and two daughters. Though there was no official word on his death, the family is understood to have been informed by the authorities.
Reports say that an Indian student, Meenal Panchal from Mumbai, has also been reported missing and her fate is not known.
"As of now, we haven't heard any bad news about the Indian students. But the situation will be clear once the authorities release the list of the victims," Ajit Pal Singh Raina, president of the Indian Student Association at Virginia Tech, told rediff.com over the telephone.
Law enforcement authorities have not identified any of the victims who were killed or who were seriously injured till their next of kin and/or families have been informed, in keeping with privacy laws.
