Thirty six hours after three-year-old Anant was kidnapped by two motorcyclists in Noida on Monday, his anxious parents are still waiting for news of their child.
The matter is being investigated by Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh police under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police S K Bhagat.
"We have orders not to allow the media inside the house to meet the members of the family. Except for relatives and friends, no one is allowed to get anywhere near the house," said a security guard manning the gates of house number 200 in 15A sector in Noida, a satellite township near Delhi.
Anant was abducted near his house as the maid was walking to drop him to the bus-stand a few yards away.
While his father Naresh, Chief Executive Officer of Abobe India, had gone to the US on a business trip, his mother Nidhi had gone to a course she is enrolled in.
"The mother left around 8.15 am and incident took place around 8.45 am. The child used to go to Lotus Valley school and left the house at the same time everyday," H S Garewal, general secretary of the resident welfare association, told rediff.com.
Though the locality is well guarded and there are 16 guards taking turns to keep an eye on the visitors and note down registration numbers of the vehicles entering the locality that has more than five hundred houses and flats. However, the guards were not able to take down the registration number of the motor cycle on the culprits who sped away from the scene of the crime.
"Gupta is a gold medalist from IIT Kanpur. This is his second marriage. He has a son from his first wife, who is not doing well and has often asked for money from his father," said one of the neighbours, who did not want to be named.
Gupta wants to keep the media away from the scene as constant limelight could jeopardise the life of the child.
No member of the family is willing to go on record about whether or not the Guptas have received any ransom demand from the kidnappers.
Deputy Inspector General of Meerut range, S K Singh visited the area and held discussions with senior officials of the investigating team.
Hideouts of known kidnappers are being raided in order to nab the culprits and rescue the child. "We have some leads," police have said but refuse to share details.
