Pravin Mahajan, arrested for shooting his elder brother and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan, has been booked in another case for cheating a city businessman of Rs 8.5 lakh in a bus purchase deal.
The police said the businessman Uday Shankar Mishra had entered into a contract with Pravin five years back for the purchase of two luxury buses, reportedly owned by the latter for a sum of Rs 17 lakh.
Pravin had handed over only one of the two buses to Mishra, even though complete payment was made, the complainant has said.
Mishra has further alleged that Pravin used to flaunt his connections and threaten him of dire consequences whenever he asked the Mahajan brother to either hand over the second bus or return the money.
After Pravin was booked for the murderous assault, Mishra decided to bring the matter to the notice of the police.
"I have lodged a complaint at Dindoshi police station (in north Mumbai) and the case has been transferred to Naupada police of Thane, since I paid money to Pravin at his residence in Naupada," Mishra on Tuesday told PTI in Mumbai.
Pravin allegedly sold the second bus to another person despite signing papers and accepting payment from Mishra, he said.
