JK: Officials suspended for irregularities in relief

The Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended seven officials, including three from the revenue department, for alleged irregularities in relief distribution to earthquake victims in Kupwara district. 

On the basis of a report submitted by Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara against loss assessment committee constituted for village Dohama regarding earthquake of October 8, 2005, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Basharat Ahmad
Dhar suspended the seven officials till pending further enquiry in the matter.

They have been attached with their concerned district offices till further orders. The suspended officials are Naib Tehsildar Ghulam Qadir, Junior Assistant Tariq Ahmad, teacher A M Mir, Girdawar Fateh Mohammad, M A Dar, G H Dar and Patwari Mushtaq Ahmad.

Meanwhile, 14 officials were suspended in Srinagar district by the Deputy Commissioner for unaurthorised absence
from work.

The suspensions were ordered after surprise raids conducted in various offices in the city Saturday.
