Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party presdient Mulayam Singh Yadav Tuesday said his party would move a no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha against the United Progressive Alliance government over the Iran issue.
"Samajwadi Party would oppose the Union govenment for toeing the US line at every level and would move a no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha soon," Yadav said while addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation of lawyers' chamber in Etawah.
"It is obvious that America wants to weaken oil producing nations like Iraq and Iran in order to control the market and the government of a non-aligned nation like India is acting as its blind follower," Yadav said.
"Countries like Iraq, Iran and Turkey have always backed India at the Security Council over issues like Kashmir. They had also provided oil in times of crisis and the Union government has now bowed before the United States and worked against the interests of a time tested friend," he alleged.
Later talking to newspersons, Yadav backed the general secretary of his party Amar Singh saying he has worked towards consolidating the party and economic development of the state.
"There is no confusion in the SP and everyone has his utility. Amar Singh has strengthened the party as also worked for the economic development of Uttar Pradesh," he said.
Referring to the phone tapping incident, he said that he had complained to the Union home minister about an year ago and he had asked for proof.
Now that it has been proved that phones were being tapped, they are trying to shield the culprits, he said adding, the matter was handed over to the Special Task Force.
