The Anti-Terrorism Squad of the Maharashtra Police on Thursday filed a charge sheet in a special court against nine persons accused of carrying out the serial blasts in Malegaon even as the government handed over the probe into the attacks to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The charge sheet was filed in a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court against nine persons accused of orchestrating four blasts in the textile town on September 8 that killed 31 people and injured over 300.

The ATS said it had still not identified the person who planted one of the bombs.

Despite the arrest of nine persons, the ATS has also failed to identify two men who were sent to purchase the bicycles in which the bombs were hidden.

These two men had also helped plant a bomb in the Hamidiya Masjid complex.

In its charge sheet, the ATS said four more persons, including a Pakistani national identified as Muzzammil, were wanted in the case.

The three others being sought by police are residents of Malegaon named Riyaz Shali Ahmed, Ishtiyaq Ahmed Issaq and Munnawar Ahmed Amin.

The banned Students Islamic Movement of India carried out the blasts with the intention of sparking communal riots in Malegaon, the ATS said.

The nine accused are Noorul Huda Samsudoha, Shabbir Ahmed Masiullah, Raees Ahmed Mansuri, Salman Farsi Aimi, Farogh Iqbal Magdumi, Mohammed Ali Shaikh, Asif Khan, Mohammed Abdul Ansari and Abrar Gulam Ahmed.
