Led by Tanveer Hyder Usmani, president of the party's Minority Morcha, the clerics recited all the 30 chapters of the Holy Koran over two hours. Prominent Muslim religious leaders who took part in the 'Tilawat-E-Koran Pak' were Syed Ali Moosa Nizami of Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin and Maulana Shakeel Raza of Bareli.

Party spokesman Prakash Javadekar, Headquarters In charge Shyam Jaju and Delhi party leaders were present. "Such a recital from the Holy Koran has taken place only in Lucknow to mark the party's establishment. I do not recall it having ever been done here," said veteran leader J P Mathur and recited an Urdu couplet to convey that God was one, irrespective of the different names by which he is addressed.

The party had earlier conducted recital of Mrityunjaya and Gayathri mantras.
