India and Pakistan have agreed to hold the trial run for the Amrtisar-Lahore bus service on December 11, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in New Delhi Monday.

The third round of technical level talks between the two countries for bus service between Amritsar and Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Sikh religion founder Guru Nanak, would be held in Islamabad on December 20, Ahamed told PTI on return from Pakistan where he met Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and other leaders.

Ahamed said he had specially taken up with Aziz the issue of launch of the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service.

In Islamabad, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson said the trial run of Amritsar-Lahore bus service would be held on December 13.

The two countries had agreed in principle to starting Amritsar-Lahore as well as Nankana Sahib-Amritsar bus service. However, the trial run of Amritsar-Lahore bus service, which was scheduled to be held in early October, had to be postponed due to the massive temblor on October 8.

Ahamed said that during his meeting with Aziz, he had conveyed to him that India looked forward to the third round of composite dialouge which would promote people-to-people contact and would bring the two countries closer.
