Over 600 Indian Sikh pilgrims have arrived in Pakistan to attend a religious festival, government sources said on Thursday.
The Sikhs arrived by special trains to Lahore, capital of Pakistan's Punjab province, on Wednesday and will stay in Pakistan for a week. The pilgrims will visit various temples in the country.
Sikh pilgrims regularly visit Pakistan, where the birthplace of their founder, Guru Nanak Dev, is located.
Although Pakistan has several major Sikh shrines, nearly all the country's Sikhs fled during the Partition.
Pakistan and India have fought three wars after gaining independence from Britain, but in recent years have taken steps to improve relations and encourage people-to-people contacts.
