The 15 staff quarters have been filled with over five feet of water for over a day; the shanties inhabited by the forest guards and people like Umesh have been washed away.

"We don't even have spare dry clothes; everything has been submerged in this muddy water. At night, we move to the rest houses, which are on the higher side," says Divya, who also lives in the park.

"With the Reliance transformer submerged in water, power and water failure continue to plague everyone," said Assistant Conservator of Forests, A Birari. "We will shift the families to a higher level at the earliest."
