Creating a flutter, a 17-year-old girl on Friday broke the security cordon at a function attended by President A P J Abdul Kalam at a hamlet in Lucknow and handed him a memorandum alleging her family's land has been usurped by the village head and her father faced a death threat.

Archana managed to go through the security ring, went up to the dais and handed over the memorandum to Kalam at the function being held at Rudahi hamlet.

As she was being moved off the dais by district magistrate Aradhana Shukla and security personnel, the girl kept shouting that her father would be killed and that her family land had been usurped by village pradhan Nidesh Pal Singh Yadav.

The district authorities tried to assure Archana that her grievances would be redressed but she insisted on having an audience with the President.

The whole episode had briefly interrupted the function.

Incidentally, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, in his welcome address at the function, praised the village pradhan for successfully organising the event for the President's visit.
