The Goa assembly will meet on February 28 for a vote on a confidence motion to be moved by the Pratap Singh Rane's government.
There have been speculations whether Rane would be able to muster a majority.
The state Cabinet had recommended the convening of a one-day assembly session on February 28 to Governor S C Jamir for the trial of strength.
"The cabinet had already taken a decision on Friday to recommend February 28 as the day for the vote of confidence, and that decision has been conveyed to the governor," Cabinet Minister Dayanand Narvekar said in Panaji.
Raj Bhavan sources said the governor had approved the recommendation and had intimated his approval to Speaker Vishwas Satarkar.
