A bomb exploded on a rail track in southwestern Pakistan on Monday, damaging a portion of railroad but causing no injuries, the police said.
The explosion blew up nearly 2 feet of the track near a railway station in Mach, a town about 35 kilometres east of Quetta, capital of the southwestern Baluchistan province, Railway Police Official Naeem Kakar said.
None have come forward claiming responsibility. No trains were disrupted and Kakar said the damaged line would be repaired immediately.
Monday's bombing came a day after 9 small, homemade bombs and rockets hit Quetta and two other Baluchistan towns,leaving 2 people injured.
on Sunday, a rocket had landed near the home of a minister, about 650 kilometres southeast of Quetta. None were hurt and the minister was not at home at the time.
About 15 people are being held for the recent bombings in Baluchistan, the police said.
Ethnic Baluch nationalist groups are allegedly behind the attacks in order to push for more royalties for resources extracted in Baluchistan. They also oppose plans to build new military garrisons in the impoverished province.
