A non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Samajwadi Party MP and film actress Jayaprada and former Telugu Desam Party MP S Venugopalchari has been awaiting execution for the last one year.
The 17th Metropolitan Magistrate had issued the NBW in July 2003 in connection with a case registered against them during the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad election in 2002.
Cases were registered against Jayaprada, who was then in the TDP, and Venugopalchari along with eight others under section 126 of the Representation of the People Act and Sections 143 (unlawful assembly) and 186 (obstructing a public servant in discharge of duties).
They were campaigning for TDP and Bharatiya Janata Party candidates in the MCH elections on January 20, 2002, the last day for campaigning.

Musheerabad Police Inspector M Bhaskar Reddy said six persons were arrested in this case while two others got 'the warrants recalled'.
However, the NBW could not be executed on Jayaprada and Chari.
When contacted Central Zone DCP Srinivasulu told PTI, "We are in the process of executing the NBW in the next three to four days if they (Jayaprada and Chari) do not comply with judicial norms."
