India, Pak Foreign Secretaries end talks on 'positive' note

India and Pakistan on Monday ended the two-day crucial Foreign Secretary-level talks on a 'positive' note and made 'forward movement' on a number of confidence-building measures.

After concluding their two-day discussions mainly focusing on peace and security, Jammu and Kashmir and confidence building measures, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar and his Indian counterpart Shashank called on External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh.

Talks were 'positive and outcome is concrete', Natwar Singh said after meeting the duo. "They have identified areas for future work," he told reporters.

Khokhar, who also called on National Security Adviser J N Dixit, said he was satisfied with the talks.

"The talks were indeed a positive and constructive engagement," Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan told PTI in Delhi. "We have made forward movement in the overall context."

The two sides are likely to issue a joint declaration in the afternoon.

The Pakistani delegation is scheduled to return to Islamabad in the evening.
