Cloud-seeding operations, of dropping crystals into clouds to cause rain, were carried out 'successfully' in Rayalseema and South Telangana regions of Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh government's operation, Megha Madhanam, brought about 'a good amount of rain.'
Rain Shadow and Area Development Minister M Mareppa said silver iodide was burned at six places, while calcium chloride was used in five places to activate the clouds, early Saturday morning.
He said the district collectors confirmed the rainfall.
The government proposes to continue the cloud-seeding operation till October-November, he said, adding that in the second phase the North Telangana region will be taken up. The programme, being assisted by experts from Russia and Canada, will cost Rs 20 crore.
