Vishwa Hindu Parishad international president Ashok Singhal on Tuesday said that he and other leaders of the organisation will challenge the special Rae Bareli court's September 19 verdict on framing of charges against them in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

Singhal told reporters here that they would soon file a criminal revision petition in the Allahabad high court.

Along with Singhal other VHP leaders against whom charges were ordered to be framed included its vice-president Giriraj Kishore, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya and Sadhvi Ritambhara.

Singhal said there was no case against them, as the FIR against them did not contain specific charges.

Though he said that the criminal revision petition would be filed collectively, he did not specify whether it would also include the two BJP leaders Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar.

On the question of Union Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi's resignation in the wake of the Rae Bareli court's order, Singhal said Tuesday's stay on proceedings against the minister had given a 'breathing time to the Prime Minister and saved him from taking an unpleasant decision in the matter'.
