Bahujan Samaj Party president Kanshi Ram, who was admitted to Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad following a stroke, was shifted to Delhi by a chartered aircraft on Monday night.
He suffered the stroke on waking up while travelling in a Hyderabad-bound train early Monday.
"He suffered an attack of right Hemiparesis associated with difficulty in speech. He is conscious but unable to speak clearly and is unable to remember recent events," NIMS Director Dr K Subba Rao said in a press release.
The BSP president, who undertook hectic tour of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, was to participate in a party meeting in Hyderabad.
"The MRI of his brain revealed acute infarct in left thalamus and internal capsule while MR angiogram of brain showed diffuse atherosclerotic changes," Dr Rao said.
