External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday said India was taking up with Pakistan the issue of unidentified persons encroaching into the Indian consulate in Karachi.
"We are taking up the matter seriously, as we should. We are in touch with Pakistani authorities. It has to the handiwork of some private parties," Sinha told reporters at Chennai airport.
"Obviously we are not going to war on this," was his reply when asked what India was going to do about the issue.
The Indian high commission has lodged a complaint with the police in Islamabad to evict the illegal occupants of its consulate building in Karachi.
On the peace talks going on between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Sri Lankan government, Sinha said, "We are keeping a watch on the developments. Whatever settlement occurs, it has to be arrived at between the two parties."
On the issue of financial grant to Sri Lanka, Sinha said India had already pledged to give US $100 million.
"We have already committed US $45 million. I hope to be able to look at another US $30 million," he added.
On the issue of extradition of LTTE chief Vellupillai Prakakaran, Sinha said, "We have taken up the issue. We are taking up the issue every time there is an opportunity."
