Jindal raised $2million for his election campaign with strong backing from the Indian-American community. But some predicted his Indian American background would prove to be a disadvantage.
His ability to overcome the disadvantage is attributed to his frankly extremist Republican agenda and his promise to introduce education reforms and abolish several state business taxes, which he says have made the southern state unattractive to industry. Among other things, he opposes gun control and abortion.
In Jindal's words: The No 1 priority is to spread a bold new vision for this state. I am running for governor because I have a vision of economic opportunity, family values, and a strong education and healthcare system.
