Pakistan on Friday dismissed speculation that the Line of Control could become a recognised international border.
Following US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage's visit to Pakistan, there was speculation in the Pakistani media that some diplomats were thinking along those lines.
"It is not right to suggest that the division of Kashmir is being contemplated," Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali said in Islamabad.
"There is no change in Pakistan's principled stand on Kashmir," he said.
Despite Armitage's assertion that the US has no roadmap to resolve the issue, he said, "If some country is to play the role of mediator, we are ready for it."
About India's assertion of cross-border infiltration, he referred to President Pervez Musharraf's statement that Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used for terrorist activities anywhere.
