All India Congress Committee chief  Sonia Gandhi's three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir was called off on Saturday on account of  foul weather.

Sonia was scheduled to visit Mata Vaishno Devi temple and address a public meeting in Jammu on Saturday before going to Srinagar for a meeting to review the performance of the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed government, which has completed six months in office.

Senior Congress leader and president of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee, Gulam Nabi Azad, had reached Jammu on Friday to supervise the arrangements for the trip.

"We can confirm that the Congress president is not coming to Jammu and Kashmir. Her trip has been called off due to bad  weather. A new date for her trip to the state would be announced later," a senior Congress leader told rediff.com on phone from Jammu.

The entire north India was under a thick cloud of dust on Saturday morning following a storm, making it difficult for aircraft to land or take-off.
