Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said on Tuesday his government was succeeding in cracking down on extremism and denied Indian claims that he was allowing militants to infiltrate into Kashmir.

After talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Musharraf said India was constantly trying to put Pakistan on the defensive by accusing it of training and arming militants.

Musharraf, on a trip that is also taking him to Germany, France and the United States, said his government was taking action Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other religious extremists in Pakistan.

"We are meeting with success on all that," he told reporters outside Blair's Downing Street home.

Musharraf said Blair was very conscious of the need for all-inclusive dialogue to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

"He is for discussing the Kashmir issue and going forward to resolve the issue. The solution has to depend on India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir," he said.
