The Congress on Monday night suspended its legislator from Andhra Pradesh C K Jayachandra Reddy, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of the son of a Telugu Desam Party leader.
"In view of the gravity of the charge, Reddy has been placed under suspension," top-level party sources said.
A court on Monday remanded Reddy, alias C K Babu, who represented the Chittoor assembly constituency, to two-week judicial custody.
He was sent to a sub-jail at Srikalahasthi town along with four of his followers allegedly linked to the murder of Y Ravi Shankar, a 20-year-old engineering student and son of TDP leader Rajeshwari Choudhary.
