The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday said that the video and audiotapes submitted by it as evidence in the Babri Masjid demolition case under trial at a special court in Rae Bareilly did not contain the speeches of Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti and some others.
CBI consul S S Gandhi said of the four video and three audiocassettes screened in the chamber of Special Judge V K Singh, one audiocassette contained the speech of Sadhvi Ritambhara.
Gandhi, however, said the CBI had, 'oral evidence' against all the eight accused persons, including Advani, Joshi and Bharti.
He said the CBI had oral evidence that these people were present in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, and incited the crowd resulting in the demolition of the structure.
The video and the audiocassettes did establish they were on the stage delivering provocative speeches, he claimed.
The hearing of the matter will continue on Thursday, when the defence consul will advance arguments on the charges.
