The golf-loving Farooq Abdullah built the Royal Springs Golf Course during his tenure as chief minister, at a time when the Kashmir valley was witness to much bloodshed. The flamboyant Abdullah came in for much flak with the Opposition equating him to the Roman emperor Nero.
