Two ministers in Himachal Pradesh on Monday resigned from the P K Dhumal government in protest over the issue of tickets to Bharatiya Janata Party candidates for the assembly election on February 26.

Civil Supplies and Welfare Minister Mansa Ram and minister of State for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Prakash Chaudhary, said they have tendered their resignation to the chief minister.

They also said they were rejoining the former Union minister Sukh Ram-led Himachal Vikas Congress as they felt the BJP would not give them tickets.

Ram and Chaudhary had been elected on a Himachal Vikas Congress ticket in 1998, and later joined the BJP to give stability to the Dhumal government, which was formed with the support of the HVC.

They represented the Karsog and Balh constituencies respectively in Mandi district.
