Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over preparations for the upcoming assembly election in Himachal Pradesh.
The CEC said the dates for the polls would be announced soon.
Political parties have brought certain issues to the notice of the commission. People should not allow outsiders from other states to communalise the election campaign, Lyngdoh, who was accompanied by Election Commissioners B B Tandon and T S Krishnamurthy, said in Shimla.
He was responding to queries regarding the possibility of the 'Hindutva' card being played by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
"Himachal is a peaceful state and the people will maintain its tradition of maintaining decorum," he said.
Lyngdoh said electronic voting machines will be used for the polls and adequate training will be given to the polling staff.
The commission has provided 8,000 EVMs for 6,231 polling booths and 500 more machines were being borrowed from Rajasthan to meet any exigency, he said.
