MOVIES Bollywood director turned Hollywood scriptwriter When his An Encounter With Faces was nominated for an Oscar in the short non-fiction film category in 1979, he decided he would one day win an Oscar. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, director of Khamosh, Parinda, 1942 - A Love Story, and Mission Kashmir did what few Indian directors have so far done: wrote a script for an English film and took it to Hollywood. And that is how the English movie Move 5 (earlier called Chess and The Fifth Move) came into being. Chopra asked Dustin Hoffman and Anthony Hopkins if they would like to play the lead roles. Hoffman reportedly told Chopra he liked the script very much. Chopra plans to sell his film to a studio, failing which he will sell the film independently. He is reportedly in the US, looking to finalise his cast soon and sell his script. When the project takes off, he will realize a long-cherished dream -- of being a truly international director.
