Trishul missile test-fired successfully

The country's most sophisticated short-range missile, Trishul, was successfully test-fired from the Interim Test Range at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from Balasore, on Tuesday.

The indigenously developed surface-to-air missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher at about 1625 IST, ITR sources said.

The solid fuel propelled Trishul, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, has a triple battlefield roll for the army, air force and navy and has a range of 300 metres to 9 km. It can carry a 15-kg warhead.

The ITR sources said the trial was to gauge the Trishul's accuracy and other parameters.
