Police personnel transferred in Gujarat on EC's order

Bowing to the Election Commission's directive, at least 478 police officials of the rank of inspector and sub-inspector across Gujarat have been transferred on Wednesday, officials in Ahmedabad said.

The transfer order was issued on Tuesday night and has affected the entire police set up in the state.

The officials were transferred based on their service and place of origin.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi described the EC's directive as routine.

The directive also specified that no police official should be allowed to continue in his home district for more than four years.
