Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

Orissa's ruling Biju Janata Dal has set a target of enrolling at least ten lakh [one million] members by December 26 to strengthen its base in the state, senior leader of the party and state Panchayati Raj and Public Relations Minister Dr Damodar Rout said on Thursday evening.

December 26 is the foundation day of the BJD.

Rout told rediff.com the membership drive was aimed at the coming civic bodies' polls.

He said the BJP is prepared to fight in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
