Razzak Kurkur, prime accused
in Godhra massacre, arrested

Amit Sutaria in Surat

Razzak Kurkur, a prime accused in the Godhra massacre case, was arrested on Monday.

The total number of those arrested in the case has now gone up to 68, police said.

The Gujarat police have not yet revealed any details of the arrest apart from the fact that Razzak is being interrogated in Godhra.

Razzak was on the run since February 27, when a bogie of Sabramati Express train carrying kar sevaks was set on fire at the Godhra station.

Razzak, a tea vendor at the Godhra railway station, was likely to be produced in a court on Tuesday evening.

Razzak's close associate Mohammed Hanif Bhatuk, who was also allegedly involved in the burning of S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express resulting in the death of 59 persons, was arrested in Godhra in July.
