Threat of storm in Orissa, West Bengal over

Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

The threat to the coast of Orissa and West Bengal has receded with the cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal moving in the north-east direction, the meteorological office in Bhubaneswar said on Wednesday.

The storm was centred within half a degree in a latitude of 16.5 and longitude of 8.80 about 700km south of Kolkata, it said.

The danger signal hoisted since Sunday at two of Orissa's ports, Paradeep and Gopalpur, have been withdrawn, it added.
