Lashkar vows to step up attacks during Ramzan

Lashkar-e-Tayiba on Thursday threatened to step up suicide attacks on security installations in Jammu and Kashmir during the Muslim fasting month of Ramzan.

A self-styled Baramulla 'district commander' of the outfit, Abu Hamza, in a telephonic conversation with a news agency said, "We have a lot of fidayeen [suicide squads] who will attack army and other paramilitary installations in north Kashmir during Ramzan."

He claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on the battalion headquarters of the Rashtriya Rifles in Sopore area of Baramulla district on November 4, during which army personnel shot dead two militants.
