Prime minister briefed about situation on the border

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday went to operations room at army headquarters in Delhi where he was briefed about the situation on the border.

Defence Minister George Fernandes, Army chief Gen S Padmanabhan, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy, Naval chief Admiral Madhvendra Singh, Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen S S Chahal and Director General of Military Intelligence O S Lohchab were present at the briefing, official sources said.

Vajpayee spent about 45 minutes in the operations room after which he left for the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security.
