Calm atmosphere prompts cops to relax curfew during the day in Gujarat

With no major untoward incident being reported in the violence-affected areas of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, on the third day on Thursday, curfew in some parts of the state has been relaxed during the day time, police said.

In Ahmedabad city, barring stray incidents of arson and looting of shops by mobs in Naroda Patia area, the overall situation was normal, they said.

Curfew in parts of the city was further relaxed between 0600 and 2200 hours, police said.

Day curfew was also relaxed in Sarkhej and Viramgam towns in Ahmedabad (rural) district and in Baroda city, police added.
