Senior Gujarat ministers voice
concern over unending violence

Some senior ministers of the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat on Wednesday voiced concern over the unending violence in the state saying it could adversely impact Bharatiya Janata Party's image.

Their concern was articulated at a weekly meeting of the state cabinet where some ministers sought a clarification from Modi on the implications of the Centre invoking Article 355.

At one stage in the discussion, there was a heated exchange of words between Modi and some of his cabinet colleagues.

The ministers who raised the issue of continued violence in the state included Suresh Mehta, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Ashok Bhatt, Narayandas Patel and Nitinbhai Patel.

Some ministers wanted to know from Modi the circumstances that had led to the appointment of K P S Gill as his security advisor.
